Aquarius Full Moon, 2006
The Roaring Inside Her
Let us make no mistake.
The nature of these times is difficult. The Aquarius Full Moon this year at 3:55 a.m. PDT on August 9, 2006, is bringing us a message of despair as the world watches the events in the Middle East spiral out of control.
A humanitarian crisis has been carefully orchestrated by the Leonine plutocratic forces unleashing their fury in what they have already planned to be a decades long war for the control and occupation of the whole of Eurasia, with China and Russia being the ultimate targets.
We have a choice as to whether we will become fully human in our resistance to this senseless slaughter and therefore join to raise our voices to oppose it, or we can ourselves fall prey to the madness that permeates the mainstream media and loose our belief in humanitarian ideals.
This Full Moon in Aquarius emphasizes the need to rise up out of the pit of despair and to join with others, especially women, who need our help in building and maintaining community in order to keep their children alive.
For it is not only women and children in war-torn areas who suffer, it is all our communities, the world over, that are drained of necessary resources as the war-machine predates over every national budget on Earth to keep itself feed, like a cancer upon the body of humanity. I will come back to this idea of rebuilding community toward the end of this essay in order to emphasize what can be done about this terrible state of affairs that presents us all with a certain malaise in August.
August Malaise
Let's take a look at this chart to see what is going on at these times and to discern a clue as to what we can do and how we can go about doing it in order to counteract some of this spiral into the Dance of the Demons that we watch every night on television news and read about on the Internet.
First of all, let's look at the 15th degree of Leo, which is an important degree in the Wheel of the Year because it is a cross-quarter point of the turning of the seasons going from summer into fall.
It is traditionally a time of feasting and merriment to celebrate the first fruits of the harvest. The 15th degree of Leo is also said to be the center degree for our Solar System and so events happening when planets tenant or aspect that degree tend to have the effect of being turning points as the balance of events changes as the planets move on -- just like the seasons of the year moving on.
This degree is also called the First Point of Affection, or the Lion Point by Nicholas Devorss in his Encyclopaedia of Astrology.
If the 15th degree of Leo is afflicted by malefics, we will have a situation of disaffection on a grand scale that proves to be a turning point in world affairs. Just think of Pluto being afflicted there at the time of the atomic-bomb attack on Hiroshima and you get the idea. Things are never the same afterwards.
The Sun has just crossed that degree this year on August 8, 2006, and Saturn is exactly conjunt at 15 Leo. So the will to power is very much under the influence of elder statesmen who wish to rule with an iron-fist.
Right now, we have Cheney and Rumseld as the powers behind the throne. Keep in mind that they are only representatives of the real powers behind the throne, who tend to be from the Pluto in Leo generation who have risen to positions of power behind the scenes. They rule the corporations, especially the entertainment media (Leo) that has merged with the news media in recent corporate mergers.
The Lion (Leo) has become particularly obsessed (Pluto) with creating (Leo) "full-spectrum dominance" (Pluto) over the world's resources (Pluto) during the coming decades of the 21st Century. The Lion writes, behind the scenes, the foreign policy of the United States, using the state of Israel (Lion of Judah) as the cat's paw (Leo) for corporate control (Pluto) of the whole of the Middle East, Eurasia, and eventually (it hopes) Russia and the Far East. No area of the globe escapes the maw of the deadly lion.
So these particular men, the Pluto in Leo generation who have corrupted the North American culture with their control of the mass media in order to coarsen the minds of the young so they will be as degraded as the Romans watching lions and gladiators in the pit of the Colosseum in slave-owning Rome -- these particular men are now being affected by Saturn transiting their Plutos in Leo, and they are feeling at one and the same time, not only a restriction of their power through the waning of resources (peak oil and impending credit failure), but also they are feeling a hardened, obsessive desire to use their leadership to impose their dominance over the world. It's a fanatic intensity to rule.
Keep in mind that we are at this 15 Leo turning point when we read this Aquarian Full Moon chart, and you see that even though it looks bad, very bad in fact, we are nevertheless at a turning point in American public opinion concerning its foreign policy in regard to perpetual war with the Muslim world.
This last attack by Israel upon Lebanon, being so calculatedly cruel to the civilian population, has brought to the attention of the American public the nature of the fraud in foreign policy that creates death and destruction the world over in their name.
The attack on Lebanon is just the most recent fiasco in the Pluto in Leo generation's futile attempt to eliminate the Persian culture, while at the same time cornering the market on the last of the world's oil reserves. Hizbollah has not been defeated. Hizbollah has come to the rescue of a society of innocently attacked victims, and has proved its reason for existence, contrary to the constant barrage of propaganda in the American media that attempts to portray Hizbollah as an evil entity out to destroy the whole of Western civilization. The propaganda machine overplays its hand once again.
When we look at this New Moon in Aquarius chart, we are seeing two things: a negative slide into death and destruction on a grand scale, represented by the T-Square with Jupiter in Scorpio in the center of the vortex; and, contrarily, we see the turning of public opion on a grand scale toward the Aquarian ideals of humane feelings, expressed in a massive outpouring of sorrow and pity for the Lebanese women and children who have been so viciously attacked by Isreali bombers.
When the president of Lebanon addresses the Arab League, his voice choking and tears in his eyes, we cry with him and with all the Arab leaders at the table. We are human. We are not predatory machines.
We are human.
The lion turns female, protective of her young. We hear the Roaring Inside Her.
The politicos on the Democratic side of the aisle seem genuinely surprised at the possibility of the defeat of Senator Jospeph Lieberman, primary bagman for the cash of the Jewish lobby in Washington. Under Lieberman's leadership, the Democrats have become Republicans, addicted to the money of the corporate feeding trough. The Democratic National Committee, under his leadership, has consistently and thoroughly cut itself off from the concerns of the common people in favor of big money. So insulated are the Democratic politicians and their advisors with a comfortable life-style provided by the revolving door of tax-payer-funded military-funding and defense-industry-manufactured-think-tank policy, that they are actually surprised that this crackpot "realist" policy of perpetual and preemptive warfare written by the Pentagon as ursurper of power in the name of the defense industries is going to loose them their last little shred of political power within the whole, corrupt system.
Let's check out this chart and see what it holds.
What we're looking at here in the larger picture is actually a T-square with Jupiter in Scorpio at the center or vortex point. Sun is conjunct Saturn in the mid-degrees of Leo opposing Moon and Neptune in Aquarius. So there is a hardened will to power opposing humanitarian ideals of caring for the people. The imbalanced center point is Jupiter in Scorpio, the Machiavellian advisors from the plutocracy who are widening the scope of death and destruction.
That point of received wisdom is underscored by Pluto at the 25th degree of Sagittarius, where we see a whole school of defense-industry funded think tanks inventing pretexts for war with nothing more than crackpot "realist" assertions that "they" will kill us if we don't kill them first -- whoever they may be, Russians, Persians, Chinese, oh, let's not forget the Communists, any kind of Communists, Cuban, Venezuelan. You get the idea.
So right now, all the energy is swirling into that black-hole, or vortex of despair, of Jupiter in Scorpio, creating more and more death and destruction in the name of corporate profit.
The Pentagon actually has had plans drawn up at least since 2001 to draw nearly all the Muslim states into a conflagration of war, according to General Welsley Clark, who claims they showed him the plans back in 2001.
Now just for a little more horrible excitement to be thrown into this volatile mix, we have Mars in Virgo, opposing Uranus in Pisces, sort of like lighting a match to gasoline, or an electrical fire during a deluge, such as we saw last year during Hurricane Katrina.
Guess what, we still have another hurricane season to deal with and there is no guarantee it won't be as destructive as the one we had last year.
Surprise attacks, particularly explosions, especially involving missiles launched at sea toward farmland or dormitories and commissaries where soldiers work and take care of daily duties are probably in the offing.
In fact, we've already seen some of that as Israel has taken over the Shebaa farmlands in Southern Lebanon, which is a point of contention in the U.N. peace treaty, which is, as usual, a farce in the name of serving Israel's illegal intentions of occupying Lebanon, a self-arrogated power articulated by its Washington think tanks, primarily the American Enterprise Institute or AEI, the primary author of most of these ongoing international crimes against humanity in the name of U.S. corporate dominance.
There has been a disastrous oil-spill (Neptune), which has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis of refugees from Palestine and Lebanon who are without the means of sustenance. Relief organizations are being blocked and opposed and stymied in their efforts to provide the barest necessities of life to a civilian population that is under attack by military forces violating the Laws of War.
Mercury and Venus are in the late degrees of Cancer, saying that people worldwide are trying to do what they can to protect and care for the vulnerable women and children, but these planets are close to closing degrees of Cancer, so the protecting instincts are pretty much at the ends of their ropes as far as what can be done to help the people. Help is on the way, however, as the North Node in Pisces tells us. Yet that Node is weak, almost wiped out because it's close to the eclipse point last spring.
The issues of working with compassion to aid stricken humanity are emphazised in a poignant manner because the means to aid them have been largely destroyed. The roads, the hospitals -- sounds like Iraq once again, doesn't it -- have been destroyed.
Faith is called for at this time. Faith in humanity -- with Neptune conjoined to the Moon in Aquarius and realization (Saturn co-rules Aquarius) that change (Uranus) is in order concerning our beliefs. We, as a nation defined by public opinion (Cancer emphasis, with Venus and Mercury in Cancer, and Full Moon in Aquarius) are coming to no longer believe that destroying the Muslim people is either a good thing or in our national interests. We are thinking with the Mother's Heart for all of humanity and we are repulsed by the horror and futility of war.
Here is the unmistakable turning point that Saturn at the 15th degree of Leo denotes: Wars and Religion do not mix.
Any religion that claims to be fighting a war for holy reasons is using religion as a pretext, as Machiavelli, the original think tank founder for dictators has so well elucidated for us.
Pretty much everyone the world over is well-agreed on that point. It's only the fabricators of pretexts for war who ever indulge in the fantasy that God would sacrifice his sons for any good reason. It's always power and predation that are the real sources of warfare. There's always an aggressor and we have learn to be more clear about who are the real the initiators of the conflicts. In order for that to occur, we must educate ourselves by reading history and quality sources of information concerning current events.
In the meantime, it's clear for now just from looking at this chart that the undertow is toward the dark side and we will just have to live with whatever events befall us in the days to come. Whether we be victims of terrorist attacks or not is probably not a matter under our personal control at this time and we will just have to accept our personal fates, whatever they may be, such are the forces that have been unleashed and will continue to grow into a Maelstrom of death.
It is in our sense of helpless apprehension about the future that we find our malaise at this time. What should be a happy August time of vacationing is overshadowed by fear of going into public places and an awful, sinking feeling in the pit of our stomachs that our once-beloved nation has turned into something evil that we hardly know how to recognize.
What we can do, however, is protect our psyches from over-exposure to the frantic cries of Doomsday, Armageddon, the Mayan Prophecies, the predictions of Edgar Cayce and Nostrodumas -- the sort of popular trash that greets every wandering eye at the grocery checkout line.
We can refuse to look and refuse to listen to the blathering fear broadcast 24-hours-a-day over the television and radio by CIA trained and affiliated voices who are working very hard to brainwash the public that World War III is inevitable.
War is never inevitable. War is planned and deliberately exucuted by those who wish to profit from war. It doesn't grow up miraculously overnight with the capture of a couple soldiers or an archduke from Vienna or any other slight pretext. War is prepared for for years in advance just to get all the logistics into place.
War is not inevitable because the planets are aligned thus and thus. It can be avoided and should be avoided and someday, perhaps, in the not too-distant evolution of mankind, it will be avoided and be a thing of the past.
But before that can happen, we really do need to evolve as a species, and there are plenty of signs that that evolution is now underway, and that evolution into a higher conscousness, devoid of war, is the real meaning of all the many prophecies that claim we are now at the end of an age, all the Doomsday Prophecies.
We are necessarily coming to an end of the Age of Faith, which is the Piscean Age, because it is quite apparent to the great majority of mankind that war is far too easily conjoined to faith. Many people are far too ready to kill their fellow men because they believe their religious leaders who tell them that they must kill or be killed. We have lived in an ongoing historical oxymoron of one long, continuous relgious war ever since the inception of patriarchy upon this planet. The Middle East has been at war for at least 8,000 years.
Isn't it time we developed a little common sense?
We must now turn to a new vision for humanity, which is outlined in this lunation chart. It is a feminist vision in that care for the family and for the family of humanity at large and for all the life upon the planet must take precedence over the values of war.
There is a lot of emphasis in this chart on the Moon and Uranus, which speaks of change for humanity through women.
I believe that this is the direction we will go as a species if we are to survive upon this planet.
A good example of this direction of women leading in important ways was given by Teddy Cruz, who teaches in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of California at San Diego. He recently gave a lecture that was televised by the University of California TV, or UCTV.
The lecture was about urban design and women -- it was about how Latina women who are local community leaders are coming to the fore in the process of small-scale, yet very effective, neighborhood rejeuvenation.
In the coming decades, we are going to experience a drastic decline in our living standards as the elements of never-ending war and economic collapse take their toll upon the Western societies. In fact, this whole crazy scheme of securing the next century for American dominance, is simply a last-ditch effort by the corporations to forestall their own inevitable doom as the reigning economic powers.
The common people, let's face it, are being left to their own devices for survival as the corporate project of dismantling the welfare state and the nation state continue unabated. These are the great changes we will all have to grapple with in the decades to come.
We can learn a great deal from the resourceful Latina women in lower-income neighborhoods in San Diego. These are the women who inspired Cruz to help them remodel their decaying neighborhoods. These women have formed NGO's, or non-governmental organizations that are used as holding companies to secure small-scale loans from banks so they can rennovate their homes and neighborhoods in ways that support community.
Using cheap, pre-fabricated materials, they are rebuilding neighborhoods around churches and gardens to give a spiritually uplifting tone to the high-density, several storied buildings made of pre-fabricated materials.
These ideas came from squatters communities on the other side of the border outside the Maquiladoras in Tijuana.
This is the direction we are going. It's very much like Arco Santi, the experimental community in Arizona, built by the visionary Italian architect, Paolo Soleri, around the idea of the noosphere, or spiritual center.
As humanity is left more and more to its own devises for survival in the coming years of enviromental and economic crisis, it will no doubt be the women, those responsible for care of the young, who will come to the fore and lead us into the Aquarian age of world without war based primarily on common sense and reasoning rather than organized religion as a guiding precept.
We know now, through historical research, that it was really women, black women in the Deep South, who inspired and led the Civil Rights Movement and were the tutors of the male leaders, such as Martin Luther King, who got the historical credit for this great humanitarian change in political structure.
When we look at the picture of the Sphinx, we see a pictorial representation of the regendered imagery of the lion. The lion is now female. Female and Woman. Female and Human (Aquarius). The Sphinx is a chimera, with wings denoting spirit in the sense of air (Neptune conjunct Full Moon in Aquarius).
The Sphinx presents us with a riddle, the answer to which is Humanity or Human Kind , the answer to the question of how to climb out of the vortex of despair we see in this chart.
Let us trade in our propensity for man's inhumanity to man for our definition of ourselves as manunkind, as the poet E.E. Cummings termed our propensity for warfare.
Let us redefine ourselves as Human Kind, one family, one kind heart, as is shown in this lunation chart.
Let us redefine the Lion and see her, not as a a predatory symbol of perpetual warfare, but rather as the strong defender of her young. Let us hear the voice of the women as we redefine society and culture to serve the needs of Life.
Let us hear the Roaring Inside Her.
I am woman: Hear me roar!
At Full Moon times, we are called upon to reconcile opposites.
As Teddy Cruz says, we must use "tactics that negotiate the Utopian and the real."
Therein lies the message of the Aquarius Full Moon of 2006.
