Aries Full Moon, 2006
Skating on Thin Ice
This year's Aries Full Moon, or Hunter's Moon, has the Washington press corp hot on the trail of scandal.
The Aries/Libra balance at the Full Moon of October 6, 2006, shows the White House to be hanging in the balance of a scandal involving sexual exploitation of a House of Representatives' page. This scandal, along with the Tom Delay and Jack Abramoff scandals, points to an unsavory connection between Congressional legislators and organized crime.
Moon in Aries has the narcissistic mood of the teenage male infatuated with his own developing masculinity. It is notoriously self-centered and insensitive to real emotional relationships with others. It tends to be devoid of empathy and sympathy and when afflicted, it tends towards homosexuality, either overt or latent. Moon in Aries has strong feelings -- for itself.
In this chart for Washington, DC, we are looking at Full Moon in Aries, conjunct the Midheaven, so the public's awareness of this issue is focused at the highest levels of government.
Moon rules the first house, so the public mind is fixed upon the notion of protecting the young.
The Libra Stellium is in the fourth house, where the Sun is flanked by Venus and Mars.
Mars is conjunct the nadir, saying this issue of the homosexual relationship with the teenage boy is going to prove to be the "end of the matter," for the leadership in power -- Mars rules the tenth house.
It's an issue of abusing parental authority (Midheaven/Zenith axis) called in loco parentis, which is the legal term indicating the responsibility of teachers who stand in the place of parents.
In loco parentis is a serious legal and moral issue for all involved.
Mars is also co-ruler of Scorpio, in the fifth, where Jupiter stands at the apex of a T-square involving Neptune in Aquarius in the eighth house and Saturn in Leo in the third house. Mercury is moving along towards conjunction with Jupiter in Scorpio, so we will be hearing much more about the scandalous details of this issue, which is likely to lead straight to the lobbyists and pornographers who are directly responsible for not only this incident, but also the general spread of indecency throughout the popular culture.
The Jupiter/Saturn square indicates a change in the fortunes of the governing authorities, as issues of morality come to the fore.
As Joe Klein, a conservative columnist for Time Magazine said in an interview on CNN on October 5, 2006, this scandal is speaking to conservative voters as the end of the
Republican revolution.
Klein said the so-called revolution as articulated by Ronald Reagan, was defined as a "strong defense, fiscal responsibiity, low taxes and moral responsibility." He said the Iraq war had ruined the defense posture, fiscal responsibility had been gone for a long time, and now with moral responsibility ruined by this Congressional sex scandal, there was only low taxes left.
Klein said also that now that Newt Gingrich and Tom DeLay were gone, the present leadership (Dennis Hastert) wasn't up to the fight they needed to put up to defend themselves by going on the offensive.
So it seems that the Republican Revolution has devolved into the revolt of the Republicans from their own ranks as they have met the enemy, and as Pogo, the cartoon character, once said, "It is us."
It appears the conservative parents are quite angry about offering up their young sons as sacrificial sex-toys to corrupt politicians who would lie to the parents themselves about having seduced their sons.
The prevailing fraud and corruption seem finally to be going towards their own limits.
So much for the political scene.
Let's take a quick look at the personal implications of this moment in time. The Republican Party is not the only entity hanging in balance as it skates on thin ice.
This energy has in it all the grace and beauty of a perfectly balanced ice-skating couple. As long as every move is perfectly co-ordinated and two sets of muscles cooperate in the execution of the artistic glide, all movement will proceed exquisitely well.
The delicate balance will hold.
One false move, and you know what happens.
That's really the nature of this time of year. We are going deeper into the fall. The mid-degrees of Libra well into Scorpio were once called by the ancients the "Via Comubusta," which is sort of like saying that the energy of the year (or the Sun) is on the road to ruin. It seems to be burning up or out. We are going into the dark time of Scorpio -- the winter season -- and the balance cannot hold.
Entropy is setting in quickly and the season soon will be cold.
In the dance of love, passion is definitely in the air along the Libra/Mars axis, with Venus and Mars conjunct the Sun in Libra and opposing the Moon in Aries. Mars and Venus are moving towards a passionate and highly fertile conjunction on October 23 in Scorpio.
This configuration holds much passion, but with Mars so heavily influencing the picture through Aries, Libra and Scorpio, and indirectly through Neptune in Aquarius in the eighth house, this mood of passion is highly colored by selfishness.
More often with Mars, it is merely the selfish desire for sexual gratification that is desired, and he will play along insincerely, pretending to love the object of his desire, when his motives are really rather more inclined to be base.
So yes, there is a lot of passion now, but be aware we are on the slippery slope of the year.
For some people, especially those who have been in long-term relationships, this energy could lead to a time of passion that leads to pregnancy and possibly marriage because we're going into Scorpio, which is the ultimate bonding and sharing energy.
But others will probably be lead down the proverbial garden path that leads ultimately to betrayal and despair. Furthermore, Jupiter in Scorpio in the fifth house of pleaures squares Neptune in Aquarius in the eighth house of death. Sex-crimes, scandal, death and ruination could be lurking around corners for the unwary, especially in Washington, DC.
Caution is in order.
Beware of that Aries Moon: it indicates the perennial teenage male and his infatuations are often short-lived and ultimately self-oriented.
However, this energy -- if used correctly -- is highly magnetic and deeply spiritual, as it blends the corporeal to the eternal. Here is the Sabian Symbol as given by Dane Rudhyar for the fourteenth degree of Aries:
A SERPENT ENCIRCLES A MAN AND WOMAN IN CLOSE EMBRACE
Power of wisdom manifest in the bi-polar nature. Protection by the higher genius of Self. Fulfillment in Truth.
So there we have it in a nutshell. Stay balanced and in tune with the other, especially in matters of sexuality, for this is the time of changing and flowing into a new season of yin/yang polarity. We are going into the dark time of the year.
To thine own self be true, and then it shall follow as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any other man.
-- William Shakespeare, Polonius' speech, from Hamlet
To avoid falling by the wayside, strive for integrity within relationship.

Lyssa Stradaians...
Take heart. You are well to stick in there at all given this weird time we all are living through. I've got to be honest - I find astrology very frustrating (and I have had some experience with it). That said though, I'm open to anyone with an open heart and head, so thank you for sticking it out.
May we all endure. :)
