Cancer New Moon, 2007

At the Dock Dream Boat to Arrive

The New Moon at 22 Cancer on July 14, 2007 brings with it the promise of dreams to be fulfilled where home and hearth are concerned.

Anything having to do with emotional security or even national security as a facet of loving one's homeland may seem to be enshrouded in an aura of great expectations and comfortable possibilities.

We may have a tendency to feel sure that things will change for the better, since Sol and Luna at 22 Cancer are trine Uranus at 19 Pisces. Furthermore, nearby Mercury at 4 Cancer is trine the North Node of the Moon at 8 Pisces, shoring up our thinking so that it flows in positive and supportive directions.

However, Neptune at 22 Aquarius is opposite Saturn at 24 Leo and conjunct Venus at the anarectic degree of Leo. The third and final phase of the Saturn/Neptune opposition is beginning to let up a bit, leaving an unflattering image of those in power, particularly Dick Cheney, who has been the subject recently of a four-part investigative series by the Washington Post.

The Aquarius/Leo opposition is now involved in a T-square with Mars at the 14th degree of Taurus. It looks like somebody is fighting mad and not about to give up what he has.

The showdown between the Congress and the White House concerning executive privilege has begun in earnest as of July 12, with the House of Representatives (the peoples' house, or lower house) passing a resolution to end the war in Iraq by next April, as well as voting to subpoena Harriet Miers, the personal counsel to the president who was involved in the firing of US Attorneys.

Miers refused to appear on July 12 before the House Subcommittee on Judicial affairs and she will be presently facing a charge of contempt of Congress if she does not appear after receiving the congressional subpoena.

Jupiter in Sagittarius is square Uranus and the North Node of the Moon in Pisces, which says there is a conflict over judicial overreach based in attempts to change the judicial system -- attempts that are based in belief.

Pluto at 28 Sagittarius stands in an out-of-sign opposition to Mercury at 4 Cancer, saying that the legal power-play is to define what we think about our country in the future. The issues are important and the stakes are high for the future of democracy, which depends upon an independent judiciary as a counterbalance to the legislative and executive powers under the balance-of-power structure of the U.S. Constitution.

Nevertheless, even as all these important issues of state swirl about our consciousness, we may feel subconciously stuck in personal issues of feeling secure in our homes, being nurtured and cared for, and wanting someone to cook for us and tell us we are just fine, just like Mom used to do. We may feel like children wishing on a star and being sure our dreams will be granted.

And we may not be too far off in our assumptions. New Moon in Cancer is a great time to make a list about how to meet your own emotional and home-making needs, how to feather your nest and find support for your dreams.

Wishing at this time, just might make it so. We could be very pleasantly surprised.

Here is the Sabian Symbol for 22 Cancer:

A YOUNG WOMAN DREAMILY AWAITS A SAILBOAT APPROACHING
A longing to live life as a great adventure. The compelling power of all sustained desire and of the dreaming of dreams.

Follow your bliss!
