Cancer New Moon (Wolf Moon), 2007
Ship Shape
Holidays are over and it's time to put things back in order on the homefront and in the public life.
Organization plus balance, along with a love of change to accomodate Venus moving into Aquarius are the keynotes for the next two weeks. Our ship of state has turned to move in a new direction. We observe its reorientation with hopeful anticipation that our public affairs will be reordered to accomodate our wishes for change within the paradigm of stability and civility.
There's a mixed bag of aspects that tells us that part of our hopes for reform will probably be delivered; but there is a nevertheless a good possibility that we will ride a rocky road during the next year and the year may not be without sudden and violent surprises.
Jupiter in Sagittarius squares Uranus in Pisces until the middle of November. When Mars is in Pisces this spring, especially in mid-April, we could have sudden outbreaks of violence with religious overtones.
Saturn in Leo is trine Pluto in Sagittarius for about a year, providing us with stability in our foreign policy. The neocons will achieve their Pax Americana, but it will be carried out in a more reasonable and limited manner than it has been heretofore, so their hold on power within the international scene will be more secure than it has been in the last few years.
The opposition between Saturn in Leo and Neptune in Aquarius will be with us until mid-August, when it will probably bring the congressional investigations to an intense point that will spell trouble for the chief executive, especially if he has indulged in unilateral war-making during the year, which he is likely to do during the spring.
On this Full Moon chart of January 3, 2007, we see that the Sagittarius stellium squares the North Node in Pisces, conjunct Uranus in Pisces. Surprises are in store: sudden, explosive situations involving fire and water, perhaps attacks at sea.
Fortunately, Neptune in Aquarius sextiles Mars and Jupiter in Sagittarius, opening the door to diplomatic solutions of crisis situations.
Venus is at the anaretic degree, moving from stable Capricorn into changeable Aquarius. That degree is intense and emphasizes the need for rational control as we move toward change.
Mercury, conjunct the Sun in Capricorn, does insure a bent toward conservative approaches, toward caution, and the Moon at the 13th degree of Cancer gives us the balance to apply a caring, yet strong hand to the administration of justice within the halls of power.
Both the Moon and Jupiter are in the signs of their rulerships, and Jupiter just happens to be exalted in Cancer, so there is an overall tone of the benevolent mother, or the good parent. The philosophy of benevolence and caring, combined with practical realism, pervades the tone of the new Congress as we greet the historic event of Nancy Pelosi taking the gavel as the first woman Speaker of the House.
To return to our metaphor, the ship of state will sail into troubled waters, but Captain January (my personification of the Capricorn good father) is at the helm, guiding with an experienced, strong and steady hand. The wisdom of the elders is brought to bear on the issues at hand.
