Leo Full Moon (Snow Moon), 2007
Stormy Weather
Leo Full Moon this year is on February 1 at 9:45 p.m. PST, bringing with it some overcast shades from a wide conjunction to Saturn in Leo, along with some Piscean stormy weather from the squares of Jupiter and Pluto in Sagittarius to Venus, Uranus and the North Node of the Moon in Pisces.
It appears we are looking at what writer Chalmers Johnson has aptly termed, The Sorrows of Empire, and there is nowhere to go, nowhere to turn, because the path to perdition has already been blazed and armed.
The Leo Saturn is still the focal point of the planetary configuration, emphasizing hubris in leadership opposing Chiron, Sun, Neptune and Mercury in Aquarius, the sign of humanitarian consciousness.
A fool finds pleasure in evil conduct, but a man of understanding delights in wisdom. -- Proverb, Miscellaneous
Jupiter's recent move from Scorpio to Sagittarius is the one really bright spot of the year, and Jupiter's position in trine to the Aquarius stellium brings hope of easy actualization of the restoration of the separation of powers of government to put an end to the imperial presidency currently spiraling out of control both militarily and financially. The restoration of the rule of habeus corpus will probably be the issue that will unite the Congress against the chief-executive in order to restore the rule of law.
Another bright spot now with the North Node in Pisces conjunct Uranus and Venus, is the application of science to the problems of global warming, and in particular, to the oceans, which are rising, warming and becoming more acidic, more polluted, and liable to loose their currents.
Oil and water don't mix and if big oil isn't removed from our political process as the back-room fixer, press minder, and string puller, we are all likely to face extinction on this planet.
The oceans sustain life for us all and must be protected and restored to health as much as possible. US ocean policy is now being defined by the Joint Ocean Commission Initiative, headed by Leon Panetta, the Pew Oceans Commission Chairman. The United States needs to ratify the Law of the Sea and develop a coordinated policy involving NOAH, NASA and EPA, rather than continuing to pursue the policy of silencing the scientific community whose voices offer us the information we need to survive as a species.
Unfortunately, we are now in the clutches of a political machine that has a predatory relationship to the truth and it will continue its attempts to silence and each and every humanitarian voice it encounters. Nevertheless, we must not be daunted from speaking our truths, even if we have to pay certain prices for standing up for common sense and common decency.
Humanitarian leadership is the goal for which must strive at this Full Moon in Leo. Make your leadership realistic and durable, base it in a sober assessment of the facts and stand strong, because we need all the emotional fortitude we can muster. The path with heart does require courage of conviction.
I leave you with an anecdote concerning the Leo/Aquarius axis and what it means to be in opposition to your own best interests when you fail to speak your truth. Here is the situation and here is the correction:
I did not belong to the group on Pinckney Avenue. For a year I lived with them but left the dinner table early and read in my room when they had parties downstairs. What is wrong with me, I asked myself, cringing. Why must I hold myself apart? Why can't I enjoy their company? Why am I the black sheep, the albatross with one wing? ... Now, years later, I look back in disbelief at the pain of that year in which I felt I was wrong for not adapting, when indeed I WAS wrong, but in choosing the wrong group. I stumbled upon new friends the day I decided to flaunt the bright yellow and red of my healthy wing, rather than shake my stub of a broken wing at nearby predators. I realized I could not belong everywhere and still belong to myself.
-- Tracy Marks, from The Astrology of Self-Discovery, in the discussion of Leo/Aquarius concerns, page 115
I like the butterfly image in this quote because it just happens to relate nicely with the butterfly image at the Sabian Symbol of 29 Aquarius, which will be the degree of our next New Moon on February 17, shortly after Valentines Day.
METAMORPHOSIS COMPLETED, A BUTTERFLY SPREADS ITS WINGS
Immortality of the real self. Graduation into a new realm of being. Confident projection of the self; lack of self-confidence.
With Uranus hovering at the 13th degree of Pisces, many of us have been going through an initiation into the mysteries and now are called forth the speak our truths in a spiritual voice. The water, the oceans, connect us all in the Matrix of Life on the Blue Planet.
Aquarius/Leo Insight
Society was invented for a remedy against injustice.

The Divine Legislation of Moses, 1737
