Pisces Solar Eclipse, 2007
Dove Over Washington
This years' Pisces Solar Eclipse at the anaretic degree of sorrowful Pisces in the nation's fifth house of public display of emotion promises to be a historical turning point, but we can't expect the scale to tip immediately in favor of the peoples' interest because we have Libra Rising at the anaretic degree, saying the immediate prospect for peace is too late, the moment has passed, and furthermore, Venus at the second degree of Taurus at the Descendent says the moment is yet too early for the peoples' dream of peace and prosperity to manifest.
Nevertheless, this fateful moment of the peoples' voice will be heard and serve as a historical marker -- a turning point in history.
Neptune is the ruler of this eclipse, bringing deluges of rain, pouring down like the tears of the parents of the dead children in the fifth house, who mourn publicly at the nation's capitol.
The fifth-house eclipse is squared by Pluto in Sagittarius at the third house cusp, conjunct profligate Jupiter in Sagittarius in the second house, showing the squandering of the treasury and worse, the squandering of the lives of the nations' young people, as well as the drop in the nation's stock market, and most alarmingly, the very serious and deadly intent to use nuclear weapons in a foreign country.
The media beats the drums of war, while the people cry for peace.
Neptune, the ruler of the eclipse, speaks of sorrow, Nemesis or retribution, as well as the shocking revelation of secret collusions with the enemy to bring about war. Professor Chalmers Johnson's new book, Nemesis: The Last Days of the American Republic, articulates the Neptunian zeitgeist, as does the pulling back of the Neptunian curtain on the neglect of the nation's military hospitals.
At this eclipse, we may expect earthquakes, overwhelming rainstorms with floods, and explosions, especially at sea. The US warships now are ready to begin war with Iran from the Indian ocean. Iran, with lots of planets in Pisces in the eighth house of death, is under dire threat of imminent attack. Back in the United States, there could be explosions in public buildings.
The chief executive is represented by Saturn in Leo in the tenth house, opposing Chiron, Mars, and Neptune in Aquarius. The harsh king opposes the peoples' voice for peace that includes the voice of Chiron, the wounded healer -- representing the soldiers who can take no more. The military forces are at the breaking point, according to many of our own generals, many of whom are reported to be on the verge of resigning if planned military aggressions are launched against Iran.
This a very Neptunian and Piscean moment. Notice the overwhelming support of the religious voices, the faith-based community, in protesting the notion of never-ending war.
Looking at the Astromap for this eclipse over Washington, we see Venus in Taurus hovering near Washington, DC, (but not close enough, sadly) while Pluto in Sagittarius at the Immum Coli squares the Sun at the Descendent in Pisces, both of which are very near the nation's nuclear proving grounds near Las Vegas, NV. This doesn't look very good. Pluto falls into the pit, the hole of inevitability at the fourth house cusp, indicating possible retaliatory strikes at home.
The threat of nuclear war and retaliatory terrorist attacks is a clear and present danger.
Although Venus rules the first house, Scorpio energy predominantly tenants the first house at this moment in time. Scorpio is death and regeneration. The first house is the body politic, the public consciousness, the winner in the political campaign, and the expression of the pychology of the masses. Politicians wanting to win the next elections will get the message loud and clear that the people are tired of death on a massive scale: the people want peace, and ulimately, in a regenerative move, the power will be with the people.
Therein will be the change, the turning of the tide as an electoral mandate for peace. One more failed military campaign for the chief executive will be the end of his presidency, since he is twisting in the wind now without nary a legal thread to hold him in the hearings in Congress over wholesale abuse of law. The President's flanking protectors, Vice President Dick Cheney and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales are each riding for a fall at any moment, as the public demand for their impeachments grows stronger every day.
There is a lot of tension here in this fateful moment of anaretic degrees, a moment whose energy is tipping over into Aries, which is war and aggression.
The nation's Mars, however, is now retrograde in Libra, which means the nation's war-making proclivities are hampered by the nation's own reaction to its out-of-control militarism. The nation wants peace and Mars ultimately will have to settle down in Venus' house for the next 70 years. Mars is going to have to behave himself, and we will breathe a sigh of relief.
The people are demanding peace, and besides, we are busted.
The Dove will utimately prevail, but not immediately, for unfortunately, she is not flying close enough over Washington, as is evident in the Astromap of this eclipse.
