Virgo Solar Eclipse, 2007

Vocation: The Call to Serve
Blessed are those who serve with a sense of devotion to a higher calling.
The Virgo Solar Eclipse of September 11, 2007, reminds us that the race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong. Sometimes it is wise to adjust our course of action after taking stock of our past successes, along with the prospects for future support.
Team efforts are what brings in the harvest.
Change is in the air, and we are dancing to the tune of Takin' Care of Business, as we do the hustle into the harvest season.
Part of the changes at this time are typical of an eclipse in that we find we have to let go of something, give up something, or endure some kind of a wipeout in order to make some space in our lives for something new to grow.
If it has become time to give up something in the area of work, the purpose of that particular ending is probabably to make a place for the construction of a newer model of service in terms of a higher vocational calling, along with a personal reorientation towards a social support system based upon compatible beliefs.
It should take about a year for these issues to be corrected and the issues should be finished off at the time they are reactivated on November 5, 2008, when Saturn will reach the Virgo solar eclipse degree at the 19th degree of Virgo.
By November 5, 2008, we should have spiritually reoriented ourselves (North Node at the eigth degree of Pisces) so that we may feel socially supported, and as though we are moving in harmony with -- and motivated by -- our social support systems within our chosen fields of vocational service.
The Sabian Symbol for 19 Virgo gives us an image of social support as motivation for success:
A SWIMMING RACE NEARS COMPLETION BEFORE A LARGE CROWD. Social sustainment of individual accomplishment. Encouragement. Competition as a means to create group consciousness.
Virgo also rules health and its requisite habits of cleanliness, good nutrition and exercise. These health routines are always intertwined with the work issues, and new foundations for health habits will be set down during the next two years since Saturn, the planet of structure and limitations, will be tenanting Virgo, the sign of health and services rendered.
The energies of Virgo and Saturn work together compatibly and productively as they teach us how to be healthy, wealthy and wise by utilizing the simple virtues of common sense, frugality and organization.
Once we get these basic health and work habits under control, we are ready to move into the flow of the North Node of the Moon at the eighth degree of Pisces:
GIRL-SCOUT, IN CAMP, BLOWS HER BUGLE TRIUMPHANTLY. Fullness of life as it manifests in service to the whole. Spiritual socialization. Call to participate in the race work.
Hard work and social support are the basic principles for navigating the otherwise choppy waters of this Virgo Solar Eclipse of 2007 on September 11.
I won't say too much about the mutable grand cross at work in this chart beyond the fact that a great deal of confusing propoganda is filling the air as certain elements of society try to foment religious and racial strife that would rationalize militaristic thinking and actions.
It would be best to ignore the religious and cultural propoganda (the mutable energies will pass in the way of the changing of seasons), while moving into the spirtual harmony of the Pisces North Node.
Venus in Leo has just recently gone direct and is now opposing Neptune in Aquarius, possibly bringing up issues of unrequited love. There may be somebody or some situation that you just have to give up at this time because that person or situation does not provide you with the social support you need to be motivated to do your best.
If you have such unsupportive situations or people in your life, now is the time to release those issues and move on to a more healthful and supportive environment. Similarly, if there have been deceptive situations around you during the last couple of years, all should have been pretty well revealed by now.
Here's a little exercise to develop your own personal insight into your past, as well as your own personal direction towards your future, using the energy of the Virgo solar eclipse of 9/11/2007:
- 1. Orienting yourself toward your past, did you have some sort of work crisis in early September of 1988? (Virgo solar eclipse at the 19th degree: September 10, 1988) Was there some sort of separation from a work environment due to incompatibility of beliefs or spiritual orientation? Did the issues first appear to you during the early spring of 1988? (Pisces solar eclipse at the 28th degree: March 18, 1988) Were you able to fulfill your potential in the area of work and service during the last 20 years? If the answer is yes, how did you accomplish your tasks? If the answer is no, who or what situations held you back? How did you allow yourself to be blocked? Now the blocks may be released.
- 2. Orienting yourself toward your future, what sort of work would you like to have accomplished within the next 20 years? Now is the time to make it easy for yourself to accomplish your chosen work simply by making a list of your goals and thinking about how to achieve them. Make your goals even easier to accomplish by associating with supportive people, fellow travelers upon the path of service to the whole, people with whom you may share whatever your notion of spiritual association might be. Put yourself in that current and go with the flow.
- 3. And last but not least, remember that Life grants nothing to us mortals without hard work. -- Horace (Satires, Book I, 35 B.C.)
